Excursions
Excursions are an important part of Hatch Early Learning Centre’s curriculum to enrich the learning of our children by connecting them with their community and environment. At Hatch Early Learning Centre, it is essential that special and regular excursions are carried out in a manner that promotes safety for both children and teacher.
Regular excursions are part of our everyday programme and include activities such as planned or spontaneous supervised walks within the local area around the centre. These include: William Street Playground, Our Centre Carpark area for bike or physical education, Prebbleton School and or the local Prebbleton Community.
Parents and whānau give permission for their child to participate in these outings when completing the enrolment form. This means children can safely take part in familiar, low-risk excursions without needing separate approval each time.
All regular excursions are carefully planned and assessed in line with HS113 Excursions Licensing Criterion. We complete detailed risk assessments (RAMS) to identify and manage any potential hazards, and these are available for families to view here, on our website to always refer to.
Children are always supervised by qualified educators, with appropriate ratios maintained and safety procedures in place to ensure a safe and positive experience outside the centre.
