ERO Report
The Education Review Office (ERO) is a New Zealand government agency that evaluates and reports on the quality of education in schools and early learning services. Their role is to support positive outcomes for all learners by providing independent reviews and guidance for ongoing improvement.
ERO reviews focus on how well a centre promotes children’s learning, wellbeing, and development. This includes looking at teaching practices, the learning environment, leadership, and how effectively the centre works in partnership with families and the wider community. They also assess how well a service reflects New Zealand’s early childhood curriculum, Te Whāriki, in its programme.
Reviews are based on evidence gathered through observations, discussions with teachers and leadership, and analysis of centre documentation. ERO works collaboratively with services, identifying strengths and areas for growth, and providing practical recommendations to support continuous improvement.
